  • Biography

As an eight year old budding artist,  Valerie Laver sold her first painting. Her love of art has been in her bones all her life.

Living in South Gippsland for several years and painting full time she entered many shows throughout Gippsland and the Bellarine Peninsula. During this time she won a few First and Second prizes plus Highly commended and Honourable mention awards.  Prior to the Internet and social media evolving there was a lot of travel from show to show and reliance on the postal system to get those art show applications in on time. Moving back to Melbourne meant a disruption to her full time art, however she continued privately by undertaking occasional commission work.

After joining Box Hill Art group she won the People’s Choice  Award at the Box Hill art group 67th annual competition in 2019. In 2021 she won best works on paper for the Box Hill art group show.

A move to Nillumbik Shire has meant inspiration from her surroundings including the beautiful Yarra River and meeting and talking to other artists.
