ABOUT THE ROTARY ELTHAM ART SHOW
The Rotary Eltham Art Show aims to celebrate the art heritage of Nillumbik Shire and support associated artists, as well as to raise funds for the Rotary Club of Eltham community service projects.
The Art Show Committee, auspiced by the Rotary Club of Eltham, includes the Art Show Convenor who communicates with artists seeking artworks from those living or working in Nillumbik or who are members of artist associations emanating from Eltham/Nillumbik. The Art Show Convenor also recommends to the Committee, appropriate and highly qualified curators and judges for the show.
The show is dependent upon Grants and Sponsorships to ensure all costs and prize monies can be covered and funds can still be raised for the Rotary Club. Specific Events (such as the Gala Dinner) are budgeted on a cost recovery basis. Artists pay $10 for entry. Upon selection, a further fee is payable varying according to size. A commission of 25% per sale is payable.
Within the duration of the show there are several separate elements – Open Days, Gala Opening, Artist Soiree, as well as possible Trade, Sponsor and Service Club cocktail nights.
An additional associated event is the popular en Plein Challenge which entices a different set of artists and creates for beautiful viewing by the community as artists and their easels frequent Nillumbik’s beauty spots.
Within the Art Show open days there will be workshops available with different exhibiting artists. For 2026 we are developing processes to engage local secondary schools via their curricula requirements. Contact is also made with local aged care facilities to encourage show visitation by residents.
The Show is indebted to the many community members and artists who volunteer for the many tasks needed. Up to 60 volunteers will be assisting through the duration of the show (9 days of open exhibition and 4 days for set up and bump out).
