  • Artist’s Statement

    A Nillumbik resident for 19 years. Zalie has exhibited at Montsalvat with the Pat Cronin Foundation, which involved other local artists and at the Eltham Library. Zalie has done teen art courses with the Living and Learning Centre in Eltham. Zalie has had art lessons with Jenni Mitchell (artist and previous Nillumbik resident for 50 years). Zalie designed our local state MP Vicki Wards Christmas cards in December 2021, which were posted to over 40,000 people in our local area and interstate. Zalies work hangs in many local places.

  • Biography

    Zalie Copeland is a teen artist, 19 years old on the Autism Spectrum. Zalie was born and raised in Nillumbik. Zalie enjoys using strong colour in her work. She draws, paints, sculpts, does dress and jewellery design. Her creative mind is brilliant. Completing year 12 last year, she is now doing a theatre based TAFE course, utilising her artistic skills. She is a horse rider, netball player and loves singing. Her first exhibition was at Latrobe University when she was 12 years old. Zalie's art hangs locally purchased by schools, healthability, medical centres and cafes. Her work has been displayed overseas in India and published in a book in America (Art Without Boundaries - Living on the Spectrum). Zalies work was recognised in the local Leader Newspaper on several occasions.
