  • Biography

    I have found ceramic sculpture a means of expression and communication of ideas, emotions and, importantly, humour. I am drawn to figurative, often humorous works. My frogs, dragons, people and other creatures seem to develop a life and energy of their own.
    I first discovered the fascination of clay and sculpture in the late 80s at the Nillumbik Living and Learning Centre and have been working in my studio amid the treetops and down the road from Montsalvat ever since.
    Since then I have studied ceramics at Box Hill TAFE, art history (grad certificate) at the University of Melbourne, attended numerous workshops with sculptors and ceramicists including Deborah Halpern, Matcham Skipper, Akio Takamori....
    I have developed and sold my sculptures; taken part in many exhibitions, many at Bulleen Art & Garden, but also Meat Market Centre, Northcote pottery, Montsalvat, Manningham Arts Centre etc; undertaken commissions including the Bulleen Art & Garden 3D mural;
    I have also set up and run the Bolin Bolin Gallery and exhibition program at Bulleen Art & Garden; and run sculpture workshops, both at Bulleen Art & Garden and other venues.
