  • Biography

Melissa Fraser is a Melbourne artist (lives in Lower Plenty), and works primarily in oils. She is best known for her lively still lifes and large landscapes which are derived from nature and personal experiences. Those observations are brought to life in her studio, a converted horse stable which overlooks an old oak tree.

Melissa's focus on simplifying the images in her art has seen her work develop into a contemporary, figurative styler. "My aim is that the painting will evoke a response, convey a feeling, an atmosphere, an expression of the subject matter rather that a copy of it."

Melissa’s most recent achievement includes participating in the Banyule Open Studios program, as well as holding a group exhibition with the ‘Four Plus One’ art group at the Victorian Artist’s Society of which she is a member.

Her work is held in various collections including Epworth Healthcare Art Collection, Melbourne Magistrates Court, and private collections in Australia and the UK.

Melissa has a teaching background with a major in art, and is student of local artist and educator Ron Reynolds.
