  • Artist’s Statement

Lived and raised my family for nearly thirty years. Attended classes through the shire in China Painting and ceramics through to tutors in watercolour including Kaye Taylor, Pam Wilson and Emmy Mavroidis. Held in a fun environment and what I liked to call, ‘a jam session for artists’ Here we were encouraged to explore different mediums and styles.

  • Biography

I began classes in art from China painting to ceramics and finally watercolour and during that time i developed a love of mainly abstract landscapes. Beginning with small studies to being brave and painting large pieces which though challenging was freeing.

My background in design helped bring me to my own style of artwork. In the process of creating, there is also the buying and selling process of the art which to me, became a wonderful human connection. Owning a piece created by a person you once knew nothing about but now do, that link being the artwork the artist and it’s story. The art I create is successful when it takes the viewer to another place, raises questions and enlightens. My challenge is to not represent something but to take the viewer to their own unique place of imagination. It isn’t necessary to understand it, its whatever the viewer wants it to be. Acrylics on my larger canvases allow me to layer many colours and tones which give a translucency that changes with the light of the day and night. The watercolours are on paper and are also abstract and I constantly strive to keep a little mystery as I guide the pigments to flow and blend to create, at times, accidental visions of beauty.
