Deborah Bowen was born in Melbourne in 1961 where she still lives. She teaches secondary school part-time in the areas of Library and Geography. Deborah began painting and creating from her earliest days with her mother’s mantra of ‘keep your hands busy’ as a major influence. She was drawn to glass after a period of intense ill-health and relishes the enjoyment she gets from creating glass pieces and now cannot see her life without it. Deborah has sold work through various galleries in Melbourne, markets and via commissions. She creates kiln formed, tapestry, murrine, blown, lead light and sculpture in glass. Deborah teaches weekly kiln formed glass classes in her home studio in Rosanna, along with one off workshops.
