  • Artist’s Statement

    Great Great Great grandfather was the first white child born in Nillumbik at Arthur's Creek in 1839, George Yarra Bilston.
    My great grandfather Dr William Lowe, was a GP, in Mount Street, Heidelberg, he was also the Medical Officer for Heidelberg and used to do house calls in the car out to Lower Plenty in the 1910's and 20's !
    I used as a ten year old , in the early 60's, walk west for half an hour with a friend, from the Diamond Creek Station, to picnic amongst the open fields, amidst old gums and wild greenhood orchids, before the houses were built.

  • Biography

    Grew up in Heidelberg in the 50's and 60's.
    Studied Graphic Design at Swinburne and Fine Art (Drawing and Printmaking) at Prahran College in the 70's.
    Works as an Illustrator and Printmaker mostly in handcoloured Linocuts and very occassionally handcoloured Silkscreens.
    Best known for contributing weekly Gardening Illustrations to The Age Gardening supplement in the 1980's and 90's.
    Has illustrated Magazine and Newspapers, Children's, Gardening and Cookery Books for various publishers.
